The Little Things

Mar 29, 2023

I recently traveled to Tehachapi, California. While driving through the countryside I saw a beautiful mountain covered in yellow. It was a dark and stormy day, and rainclouds were starting to move in. I saw a dirt road I could turn off, and knew if I wanted to go see the flowers I would have to hurry before the rain hit.

I slowly made my way through the rough road and eventually found myself surrounded by fields.

I had been having a hard day and was feeling very down. Since one of my favorite things is photographing nature, I jumped at the chance to capture this beautiful place.

As I started taking pictures, my phone rang. It was a good friend calling to check on me. We talked for a bit while I took photos. By the time he hung up, I was feeling so much better.

I drove out of that place feeling such a sense of relief and joy, and I had only been there about an hour. It’s amazing how such small things like hearing from a friend and stopping to take some photos can change your mood and re-orient you when you are feeling off. I even made a YouTube short about this. Enjoy.
